Much awaited, all new POLO GTI
 The
much awaited all new Polo GTI is here! The latest edition to the
highly successful Polo range is the new 110kW 1,8l turbo
charged, petrol engine performance hatch.
This new contender in the highly competitive compact
performance hatch category, produces maximum torque of 220 Nm at
1,950 revs and is capable of 0-100 in only 8.2 seconds, and a
top speed of 216 km/h at 5,800 revs.
The Polo GTI bears close resemblance to the internationally
acclaimed fifth generation Golf GTI. It shares some of the
styling features currently found on the iconic Golf GTI – these
include twin exhaust pipes, GTI branded honeycombed grille with
red detail lines and tasteful black surrounds extending down
into the bumper of the turbo charged Polo.
Black side skirts visually underline the dynamic chassis
design of the Polo GTI and the roof top spoiler contains an
integrated third break light for added safety. The bright red
brake callipers are dominant while complimenting the stylish 16”
“Denver” alloy wheels.
In South Africa, the POLO GTI will be offered in a five door
configuration only.
The interior styling package offers the enthusiast a real
sporty look and feel. Equipped with sport seats that feature the
classic “Interlagos” chequered design, a three-spoke sports
steering wheel, leather finish to gear shift knob and cover, as
well as the handbrake grip. Aluminium finish to the centre
console, air vents and foot pedals, completes a very sporty
interior.
Standard specification on the new Polo GTI includes, ESP,
remote central locking, disc brakes front and rear with red
callipers, climatic air conditioning, electric windows front and
rear, single MP3 compatible CD player and sports suspension. In
a nutshell, a real performance hot hatch without compromise.
Options include a sunroof, cruise control, radio/navigation
system, front CD changer and the comprehensive Volkswagen
Automotion maintenance plan.
In typical Polo tradition, the new Polo GTI makes the
impossible possible by offering a GTI performance package at a
price substantially below R200.000 – in fact, at a retail price
of R188.700 inclusive.
Along with the rest of the Polo range, the new Polo GTI will
be manufactured by Volkswagen of South Africa at their plant in
Uitenhage. |
