Mitsubishi Outlander.

Seventy years after its seminal PX33 4-wheel-drive, Mitsubishi hopes to demonstrate its expertise in this area in Paris through what it describes as an up-to-the minute, renewed SUV line-up aimed at important sectors of the growing SUV market.

With its Europe-only Mount Fuji grille, the 4,64m-long Outlander-Concept is a further showcase of Mitsubishi's strong visual identity, while its wide stance, muscular fenders and sharp lines point to what the company describes as its dynamic abilities. There's also a kicked-up window line, piercing headlamps and 20-inch wheels.

The Outlander-Concept is powered by a derivative of the Volkswagen-supplied 1103kW 2l diesel turbo-charged and intercooler, DOHC, 16-valve diesel motor, mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The model is said to have been designed as a stylish living space with features to match, including a 650W 9-speaker Rockford Fosgate premium audio system, plus a clever hide-and seat third row for 5+2 accommodation.

The concept is powered by a Volkswagen-supplied, two-litre TDI turbodiesel with intercooler, producing an estimated 103kW and mated to a six-speed manual gearbox.
