Touareg - Facelift
Introduction
The Touareg range has become the flagship of the Volkswagen
range in South Africa. Now a well established brand in South
Africa market, the Touareg’s advanced four-wheel drive
technology, unsurpassed comfort and distinguishing good lucks
have been further fine-tuned with its superb off-road and
on-road performance, advanced technology and life assuring
safety features.
The new model generation of the Touareg comes with a fresh
design, innovative technologies and leasing package of safety
equipment. It has 2 300 new parts.
Face-lift features
From a styling perspective the Touareg has made its presence
well known. Its bold raised design alludes to the vehicles firm,
comfortable and excellent off-road capabilities, whilst its
extended sleek lines and aggressive front stance establishes its
on-road performances credentials.
The Touareg range has been enhanced without compromising its
on-road/off-road presence.
The headlights and bumpers have been changed and now provide
a fuller, bolder appearance to the front end of the vehicle. The
styling keeps in line with the new Volkswagen front-end look
with the fuller, V- shaped, chrome grill being more pronounced
and extending the range’s hunger to take on the road and
establishing a more imposing look to the vehicle.
At the rear end of the Touareg there is a change to the
taillights which give it a more prominent, circular lighting
design, which provides a greater focus of light emission making
the vehicle more visible. The tailgate spoiler has been changed
to improve the aerodynamics of the vehicle.
Safety
The Touareg is a vehicle that is well known for its advanced
technological features and life-assuring safety features. The
facelift improves on this, taking it a step further into the
future with the introduction of a roll over sensor and “braking
distance reduction”.
Roll-over sensor
The roll-over sensor is an additional safety feature to the
Touareg range, which provides improved levels of active safety
to the vehicle. It senses the rolling angle of the vehicle and
pretensions the passenger safety belt or deploys the side
airbags if necessary during a roll over situation.
Brake distance reduction (Front Scan)
Braking distance reduction is a feature on the Touareg which
operates in two stages: 1st optically or acoustically notifying
the driver of a sudden change in distance to the vehicle ahead
and then followed up by light braking, reducing the pad-to-disc
gap and thus braking time at the same time warning the driver to
brake.
Another significant change to the V8 model range is the
resizing of the alloy wheels from 17” to 18”. For V10 TDI
owners, a further enhancement will be the offer of optional 20”
Mountain alloy wheels – truly keeping in the line with its
image, size and power.
The V10 leads the way with Volkswagen’s environmentally
friendly technology so it is fitting that another addition to
the V10 TDI will be the inclusion of a Diesel Particulate Filter
(DPF) as standard. The DPF is a system for removing diesel
particulates from diesel emissions.
A choice of 13 colours with 6 new colours is available.
The new Touareg will be available in R5 TDI, V6 TDI, V8 and
V10 TDI engine configurations – all with a Tiptronic
transmission. |
